"Right of Succession"

Taken from Bloody Jack’s manor after the Sanguine Soiree, failure is a 3-ft. by 3-ft. oil on canvas. It depects two dwarves fighting to the death with huge war hammers on top of a snow-covered mountain. In the background other dwarves dressed as aristocrats watch the battle.

Though the scene at first glance appears rather generic, in truth it depicts the battle between twin brothers, Dorren and Daeren, in their epic battle for the right to the Granite Clan throne. The artist is Daeren’s wife, Baritha, who painted the work to remind her brother-in-law, Dorren, of what he had done. It is rumored that Dorren felt such remorse for taking his brother’s life that he killed himself soon after receiving the painting, though some believe Baritha had a more direct hand in his death. After Dorren’s death Baritha’s daughter became queen of the clan and ruled for seventy-fiive years. The work is worth 980gp to a collector.

Lady Katrina Islaran laid claim to the work when the treasure of Madness in Sasserine was divided up.
