Bio:

Background

It isn’t easy growing up without a father, but being the only child with the blood of someone outside the Olmans in an Olman village is harder.

Though he manifested some minor magical talent in puberty, he failed to carve his own niche in the village – it didn’t help that there was another boy in the village who manifested magical talent in the village as well, or that the other boy was one of his tormentors, or that the other boy’s talent for magic seemed to surpass his own.

Quietly, he studied magic, in the vain hope the knowledge might unlock greater potential within him, but at least he proved himself useful – though not useful enough that anyone ever forgot his heritage.

It was only recently, with the return of the Vanderborens and the founding of Farshore that he found something in his heritage to be proud of, something of worth – that he could serve as the bridge between the Olman and the colonists, moving with his mother to Farshore. It was in this moment, embracing who he was and his own self-worth, that his nahualli, his other self, the other half of his soul, revealed itself to him. All along, his magical powers had seemed weak because they were not his true talent, but merely a lesser facet of his greater potential as a nahual, a sorcerer who had connected with the other half of his soul, bringing it into the world and giving it shape.

With the revelation of his nature as a nahual, no Olman could dare deny that he was truly one of them, and, finally, in accepting himself, he has himself become accepted.
